The Beginning

In March 2001, just before 9/11 and the start of our largest industry downturn, we created WFN Strategies with a mission to exceed customer expectations by solving complex telecom network design and implementation problems for commercial, governmental and oil & gas clients while maintaining a positive commitment to social impact and environment.

We accomplished our first oil & gas project, a first-ever Caspian Sea-based inter-platform system for BP.

2006

The First Arctic Journey

The First Arctic Journey

We accomplished our first transoceanic system, that being the system engineering of route and permitting feasibility for AAG, and also that year, we accomplished our first Arctic project, a Prudhoe Bay, Alaska broadband, terrestrial fibre and trunked radio system for BP.

Scientific Support

Scientific Support

We accomplished our first scientific cable project, a submarine fibre-optic network capable of serving both underwater science nodes and offshore platforms in Arabian Gulf for Lighthouse R&D.

Gulf of Mexico

We implemented the first-ever US Gulf of Mexico inter-platform cable system for BP.

Forbes Magazine ranked us as a semi-finalist for its “America’s Most Promising Companies” list, and since that year, US Commerce Association and Small Business Community Association selected us for the “Best of Washington, DC for Telecommunications Consultant.”

We implemented the first of several subsequent cables for an OTT, as well as the first-ever inter-platform submarine fiber optic cable system in Australia for Inpex.

We implemented the first-ever submarine fiber optic cable system linking the islands of American Samoa for ASTCA.

Northwest Australia

Northwest Australia

We implemented the first-ever submarine cable system to a FLNG facility offshore Northwest coast of Australia for Shell.

Conquering the Arctic

Conquering the Arctic

We implemented the first-ever repeatered submarine fiber optic network connecting the Alaskan Arctic for Quintillion.

We became an ISO 9001:2015 certified designer and implementer of submarine cable systems, becoming the first consultancy in the industry to do so.

President’s “E” Award for Exports

President’s “E” Award for Exports

US Secretary of Commerce, Wilbur Ross, presented WFNS with the President’s “E” Award for Exports at a ceremony in Washington, DC, one of only 25 companies nationwide to have been selected.

2020

ISO 27001

We became ISO 27001:2013 information security certified for the provision of submarine cable system implementation, becoming the first consultancy in the industry to do so.

Our Climate Pledge

Our Climate Pledge

We joined The Climate Pledge alongside Amazon, Verizon and over 100 other companies from across dozens of industries, proposing to not only reach carbon neutral operations by 2040 but also become the industry champions for powering submarine cable systems with renewable sources. We also accomplished ISO 14001:2015 Environmental management system certification, becoming the first consultancy in the industry to do so.

We accomplished 20 projects for eight clients in four global regions, as well as fielded more than 130 man-months of submarine cable expert Client Representatives.
